The Daily News

Daily News, also known as the New York Daily News and occasionally referred to as the Daily, is an American tabloid newspaper. Founded in 1919 by Joseph Medill Patterson as the Illustrated Daily News, it was the first successful tabloid newspaper in America and attracted readers with sensational stories of crime, scandal, and violence, lurid photographs, and cartoons and other entertainment features. The newspaper was one of the most influential and widely circulated newspapers in the United States during the first half of the 20th century.

In addition to its hard news and political coverage, the Daily News has always been a major source of celebrity gossip, classified ads, and sports news. Its sports section was considered one of the best in the nation in its heyday, and the paper’s foreign news bureaus were among the most outstanding in the world.

While the Daily News has a reputation for sensationalism in its headlines and in certain coverage areas, it is one of the oldest newspapers in the country and still has a strong presence in the city’s newspaper market. In addition to its print edition, the Daily News has an extensive online presence and is available on mobile devices.

The Daily News is also well known for its photography, and has a number of award-winning photographers, both staff and freelancers. The paper has a large and diverse readership, and reaches an estimated 1.4 million people on any given day. It is also a popular source of information for local politicians.

The newspaper has a long history of publishing in the United States and has been based in New York City since its founding. Its circulation peaked in the mid-20th century, and it was one of the most read newspapers in the world at that time. In recent years, however, the newspaper has struggled to maintain its readership, and its advertising revenue has declined significantly. In September 2017, it was announced that the newspaper would be sold to Tronc, a media company owned by Chicago-based businessman Mortimer Zuckerman.
