It was the first newspaper to print in a tabloid format and attracted readers with sensational stories of crime, corruption, and violence as well as lurid photographs and cartoons. The paper has since changed its name to the New York Daily News and is not related to the earlier New York Daily News that existed between 1855 and 1906.
